🧵 Thursday Thread: You don’t need more time to quilt

Happy Friday Eve Reader!

You don’t need more time to quilt.

I thought I did. For the longest time, I told myself: ā€œIf I just had more time, I’d finish more quilts.ā€

But the truth? It wasn’t time. It was focus.

I loved starting projects. But when it came time to actually finish them, I’d bounce to something new.

That’s how I ended up with a pile of WIPs.

So, I changed one thing:

I started focusing on just one ā€œMomentum Quiltā€ each month.

Not to finish it. Just to make progress.

And that’s what’s made the difference.

If you’re sitting on a pile of unfinished quilts, I made something to help: Too Many Unfinished Quilts? Start Here.

Here’s what that looked like for me this week:

March Momentum Quilt

I've gotten 60 minutes to sew so far this week and that is exactly the point. Even though I've been short on time, I moved my quilt forward. I got the rest of the fabric I have for the flowers trimmed down to rectangles. I'm going live on YouTube every Monday working on whatever my Momentum quilt is each month.

What’s the next 10-minute step on your quilt?

Community Spotlight

Last week I asked about tips for sewing small pieces. Kate had some great suggestions including using a straight stitch plate, using a finer needle and thread. Thankfully, most of my tiny pieces ended up being stitch & flips. Kate shared a few photos with me, but this was my favorite, and this is what Kate had to say: "Florence Truffles in her sitting room in Oak Tree House with a 1/2" block quilt. Apart from the light, I made everything in this photo🄰 There's a more on my little Instagram page 😁"

Finished a quilt recently? I’d love to celebrate it!

Quilt tops, finished quilts, or even a long-awaited WIP finish — I’d love to see them!

Hit reply and send a photo of your finish — I may feature it in an upcoming Thursday Thread or on my social channels.

If you send a photo, include:
• your first name
• where you're from (optional)
• the pattern you used (if there is one)
• any details you'd like to share

By sending a photo, you’re giving me permission to share it in the newsletter or on social media unless you tell me otherwise.

Sewing Room Update

A couple weeks ago I shared with you I was going to work on this cute bear block. This week I got the block done! Thankfully most of the tiny pieces were stitch & flip corners, but I was glad to tick this off the list!

That’s this week’s Thursday Thread.

Take care of yourself, you deserve it!

P.S. A quick heads up — Clubhouse membership pricing will be increasing in April. If you’ve been thinking about joining, now is the time to lock in the current rate. Once you join, your price stays the same - currently $5/month.

Happy Friday Eve Reader! This week’s video is all about how I’m organizing my WIPs so they actually keep moving. Last week I asked how old your oldest WIPs were… and apparently, I’m in very good company. Kim has a 41-year-old hand-pieced sampler that only needs binding.Dorothy has a 15-year-old table topper—even though she doesn’t have the table anymore (honestly, I could see that happening to me).Martha started a quilt in 1998 that still needs quilting.Evelin also has a 15-year-old quilt...
