A weekly note from Tasha Quilts

Happy Friday Eve!

Last week I mentioned that things were improving with my husband's recovery. Well, this weekend threw us another curve ball, and he had to have another surgery this past weekend. He's home recovering now and we're taking things one day at a time.

Because of everything going on, I wasn't able to get a new YouTube video out this week. The past six weeks have been a good reminder that family always comes first.

However, my sewing machine is calling my name. I'm hoping to be back in the sewing room soon (maybe tonight), and I already have lots of ideas I'm excited to share with you in the coming weeks.

I want to thank you all for the kind messages and well wishes I've received via email, YouTube comments, comments in the Clubhouse, etc.

His room for this latest stay was in the part of the hospital that used to be used for housing inmates - look at the bars on the windows!

What's Inspiring Me This Week

Jimothy took TikTok by storm. And the quilter's wasted no time making their own Jimothy quilts. Has Jimothy the racoon been on your social media feed? Look at this pattern by KiwiXCrossing. If I had the time, I'd be stitching it up! You can find the pattern on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4541861596/jimothy-raccoon-quilt-block-pattern

I have not made this pattern, but the designer has really good reviews. This is not sponsored in any way - just something I think is adorable!

I really do believe in sewing things that bring you joy. And how can you not be happy when sewing this up?

Weekly Poll

In last week's poll I asked what your favorite quilting season was:

  • 4% said Spring
  • 1% said summer
  • 20% said Fall
  • 15% said Winter
  • and 60% said all the seasons!!

I think I'm with the majority here - I love sewing year-round but if you twisted my arm and forced me to choose - I would probably choose fall. It's no surprise that I love me some Halloween sewing!

This past week was July 25 - marking we are only 5 months away from Christmas,
Hanukkah and many other holidays! So in this week's poll - are you planning on making homemade gifts this holiday season?

Thursday Thread A weekly note from Tasha Quilts Happy Friday Eve! I haven't gotten much sewing down this week. However, the husband did get to the doctor and got cleared to walk and drive - and hopefully he will be back to work in a few weeks. If you haven't been following along with this saga, he had an accident with this foot and his lawn mower. His big toe did not fare well in this fight! While I haven't been sewing, my friend Fallon over at Sew Be It Quilts is stitching up some fabric she...

Thursday Thread A weekly note from Tasha Quilts Happy Friday Eve! For the most part, we had a busy but uneventful week. No hospital stays or major plumbing issues. We'll take that as a win! I haven't had a bunch of time in my sewing room, but I've started laying out blocks for a special project. At the day job we have a tradition where the first time someone has a baby a bunch of people contribute quilt blocks and we make them into a wall hanging. I'll be assembling the below blocks into a 4...

Thursday Thread A weekly note from Tasha Quilts Happy Friday Eve! Things are calming down here! The husband still is recovering from his battle with the lawn mower, but everything else has remained calm. I'm grateful for that. I'm so appreciative of a boring week of just the normal life stresses! This past week I decided to start publishing monthly videos on my second channel on the behind-the-scenes progress of "Tasha Quilts" the business. I'll be sharing wins, mistakes, numbers and lessons...
