A weekly note from Tasha Quilts

Happy Friday Eve!

This week has been a great week! The husband is back to work, and the kids are back to school. The house is silent during the day. Even though I'm working all day - it is still nice to be alone when I'm doing it!!

In other exciting news - I just realized it has been two years since I released my first quilt pattern into the world. I love the simplicity of this Blooming Blades quilt - only one block - the quarter circle block. The name comes from it reminding me both of cleavers and flowers, lol!

To celebrate - the pattern is 50% off (only $5) through the end of the weekend. No code needed, it will automatically apply when you check out. This also has me thinking about making another one of these, it goes together so fast!

From my Sewing Room

As I've mentioned the last couple weeks I've been wanting to get started in sewing bags. My first step in this journey was an eye-glasses case. I messed it up but saved it - so it's a bit shorter than I was hoping and what the pattern calls for. By the way, it was not the patterns fault, but just me chatting on a zoom call in the Clubhouse and not reading instructions properly - lol! But, I am obsessed.

The pattern is: Lennon Eyeglasses Pouch by Center Street Quilts and the fabric I used is from my shop: Liberty Emily Annabelle (F) Quilting Cotton and Art Gallery Fabrics Mauvelous.

I'm Presenting in a Free Quilting Summit!

I'm presenting at my very first quilting summit! It's completely free to attend, and there are 17 presenters, lots of freebies, and plenty to learn. If you sign up through my link, it also helps the organizers know that I'm doing my part to spread the word!

Weekly Poll

Last week I asked if you sew clothes, and this was a pretty interesting split!

  • 37% said yes
  • 16% said yes but only out of necessity
  • 21% said no - but you'd like to someday
  • 25% said no and I have no desire

That means quilters don't always stay in the quilt lane - I love it. I fall into the category of "No, but I'd like to someday".

Fall is approaching here in NY - I love all the apple treats, cooler weather and Halloween decor! Will you do any Halloween sewing? If yes, I'd love to hear what it is!

Happy Friday Eve! I recently searched the internet looking for the perfect wallet to make. I found the pattern on Etsy, bought it, and even spent two hours making it. Then I realize the pattern was not good. I wasted a lot of time. I reached out to the seller who apologized and promised they would take the listing down? Do you think that happened? Hear all about it in this week's video - UGH! This video has been taking off a bit (for me) on YouTube, and there are so many comments of people...

Thursday Thread A weekly note from Tasha Quilts on what I'm stitching and what is inspiring me! Happy Friday Eve! This week I experimented making a stained glass inspired (sort of) applique quilt block. It's not perfect, and I think I'd do some things differently next time. I think I would do the full flower and petal units together on the back and then cut them out instead of the individual pieces. I'd also change up the colors a bit. I'd love for you to tell me how you think I could make...

Thursday Thread A weekly note from Tasha Quilts on what I'm stitching and what is inspiring me! Happy Friday Eve! This week is an exciting week - my oldest turns 9 today! My daughter even spent her bookfair money on him yesterday to get him a present today. I did finish up this quilt recently - well, I outsourced it, lol. My friend Susan quilted and put the binding on this quilt for me. It is a Cotton Cuts Puzzle Mystery Quilt called Flyaway. I originally really didn't like this quilt because...
